Court is hard to follow the first time. Court rules are public. The law is public. What is missing for most people is a plain-language explanation and a calm hand through the steps. That is the part we set out to build.

What Hello Court does

We take a single civil court matter and make it understandable, one step at a time. You tell us what happened in your own words. We explain how that kind of case generally works in your state, help you gather what you need, and help you build your filing packet, which you then file yourself.

Court forms, where we carry them

For some case types in Colorado, New York and Utah, Hello Court fills your state’s own published court form from your answers, for you to review. You make every decision about your own matter.

One price per case

$125 per case, paid once. No subscription, ever. More usage credits only if a heavy case needs them, at a price you see before you pay.

Choosing a lawyer

The last step points you to your state’s own ways to find a lawyer and to check a license. For some states and kinds of case, it also lists lawyers from public directories. You compare and you pick. No lawyer pays Hello Court, and Hello Court is not a lawyer referral service. Your packet includes a summary you can take to any lawyer you choose.

We give general legal information about how a type of case tends to work. We do not give legal advice about your specific situation, and we do not predict how your case will turn out. We describe how the process generally runs, point you to where the rules for your state live, and let you make the calls about your own matter. That boundary is not a disclaimer we bury. It shapes every sentence we write.

We are not a law firm. We do not represent you in court. We do not guarantee any outcome, because no one honestly can. And we do not claim to operate in a state before its pages are actually ready. If a page is not live, we do not pretend it is.

The spirit behind it

Hello Court was built by people who believe that facing court alone, scared, and outmatched is not how the system should work for someone whose only mistake was not being able to afford a lawyer. The civil legal system is built on public rules. The trouble is that those rules are written for people who already know them. We are trying to translate, patiently and accurately, so that being short on money does not mean being shut out.

Not hype, not false comfort, and never a promise we cannot keep. Just a steady, honest explanation of what is happening and what to do next, in words anyone can follow.

We will tell you the truth, including the hard parts

We will tell you when a matter is bigger than what an app should handle. We will tell you when you would be better off with a lawyer. We will tell you what we do not know. An honest answer, even an inconvenient one, is the whole point. That is the standard we hold ourselves to, every page, every time.
